Emily Dickinson

Emily Elizabeth Dickinson nasce a Amherst nel dicembre 1830 in una famiglia borghese di tradizione puritana.
Considerata tra le maggiori liriche moderne, morì a soli 55 anni a causa di una malattia. Dopo la morte la sorella ritrovò centinaia di poesie rilegate con ago e filo e raccolte in un raccoglitore, e riuscì a ottenerne la pubblicazione in un volume unico nel 1980.

Tra il 1924 e il 1935 vennero pubblicate altre centinaia di componimenti dell’autrice e oggi Dickinson è ritenuta una delle maggiori poetesse di tutti i tempi.
